Solid State Stamping can provide contacts with rivets for switches, such as sunroof and automotive window switch applications and other electrical relays and switches. Using a special process, the rivet wire for the contact is fed into the stamping tool, together with strip metal for the main contact part or lead frame. The strip is stamped into a contact switch part or lead frame and the wire is formed into a rivet directly on the switch or lead frame contact, all in the same tool. The rivet, which can be made from a variety of precious metals, becomes the contact surface for the switch. The properties of the riveted contact include reduced contact resistance and they are very well suited for applications with high electrical current.
