Contacts with welded contact profiles for use in a wide range of power switching and relay applications are manufactured by Solid State Stamping. The profile of the contact, made from a base layer of copper alloy with a precious metal surface, can be specified. The thickness of the precious metal layer, the design of the shape of the contact profile, the contact layer and material of the applications can all be varied based upon customer specifications. The basic part is stamped and the contact profile is welded directly onto the contact part in a single die, which provides greater production efficiency. Key applications for these parts include moving contacts and switches, relays and micro-switches for telecommunication and automotive applications. Some possible applications are window switches, seat position switches, mirror position switches and micro-switches for temperature sensors.
